"I bought the C5380 as a replacement for a similar Canon which I had on trial, it was oh so slow, quality great, feature packed, but fast draft was as fast as a donkey going up hill!
Before these two I had a faithful HP 2575 all in one which did a grand job for three full years. Sadly the C5380 does not live up to that reputation. Loading software on my PC took a grand 48 minutes, whilst on the Mac it was better at under 6 minutes.
As for use, this printer is great for quality of print, especially for photographers, draft printing is very fast and quality adequate. Scanning is a doddle as per usual. Im not too keen on the updated suite of software, not as good as the previous, fortunately I don't have to rely on this. The only big problem is this printer tries to shake itself off my desk after each print, it seems to go into print head alignment and shakes rattles and rolls for England, and sounds like plastic being twisted in ways it should not! I am partial to HP as I also use a Pro B9180 and have in all had many years of HP printing. The only other criticism with the C5380 is there seems to be a lag between my Mac telling it to print and the actual printer waking up to smell the coffee so to speak, my other printers have all worked remarkably faster when operated by a Mac.
Ink use seems to be very good so far, and much more cost effective by having five inks.
All in all its a great piece of kit and I actually think I got the Friday afternoon build and they don't all do the 'after each printed sheet shinannigins'. Oh and the CD label printer is really useful, once you have worked out which bit to pull out and put in which slot, once you have found that slot! Prints well though.
Overall I would rate it at 7/10"

"There is very little this printer cannot handle from memory cards, red eye removal and CD printing. There is no need to have a PC if you can manage with the small screen on the printer. Cartridges are middle of the road for cost and as there appears to be no compatibles available at this time the printer checks for originals so could not say that any would work. Overall best allrounder i have had."
