"This is a very good replacement for my old optical PS2 mouse with its dying/dead scroll-wheel ... however ...
**WARNING**
DO NOT allow Windows update to install the "A-FOUR TECH CO.,LTD. - Input Devices - Compatible USB Port Mouse" driver for this device.
Windows Update started to install this driver on my XP system and after about 2 seconds, the PC just instantly restarted ... on restart, it asked for a "click on OK" to complete the mouse driver installation at which point, exactly the same thing again, instant restart.
Sticking the mouse into a different port allowed it to work again but on plugging back into the port where the driver first went haywire, the same driver tried to load and the same restart problems ensued.
Luckily, I was reformatting my machine anyway but, if this happens to you and you can't/don't want to reformat, select NO when the bad driver tries to install and then go into Device Manager (use mouse in unaffected port to get device manager window open then switch mouse to affected port and navigate with keyboard from there) and choose to update the driver manually, select "HID-compliant-mouse" NOT "HID-compliant-device" from the "Don't search. I will choose the drivers to install" window for any ports that might have been affected by the bad driver which keeps trying to re-install.
Tip: Best not to let Windows Update install this evil driver in the first place if you get to read this warning in time though ;)"
